Greek tourism blogA number of basic tourism statistics terms are presented at the end of this section in the form of a glossary. The objective is to clarify some basic concepts so that reference to such terms is clear with respect to their meaning and content.
Two glossaries are provided below. The first one, “Tourism Statistics Definitions”, contains definitions regarding the collection of statistical data in the tourism sector and is published by the Council of the European Communities.
The second one is a World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) document published in English, entitled “International Recommendations for Tourism Statistics, 2008”. These recommendations provide a common reference system to be used for compiling tourism statistics, so that they are comparable at international level, and were drafted by the UNWTO Committee on Statistics and the Tourism Satellite Account, in which SETE participates.
